Refrigeration Specialist - Calgary

We are seeking an individual to work in the Research and Development Department, located in Calgary, Alberta. This individual will work independently and as part of a collaborative team under the direction of the Manger of Research and Development.

Responsibilities

• Test and evaluation of specialty DX cooling and refrigeration systems and components.
• Specialty refrigeration system design and construction involving sheet metal, electrical and piping.
• Design and development of control wiring diagrams and sequence of operations.
• Test and troubleshoot units in both manufacturing and lab environments.
• Test and evaluation of electronic controllers.
• Detailed reporting of testing and evaluation.
• Diagnose and provide guidance on problems encountered with equipment.
• Travel to various locations across North America to assist in troubleshooting equipment in manufacturing facilities and field locations.
• Create and deliver presentations on refrigeration systems and components.
• Remain current with respective industry and manufacturing codes.
• Develop and evaluate technological advancements in refrigeration systems.

Education and Experience Required

• 7+ years HVAC industry experience with focus on refrigeration or specialty DX systems.
• The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following; Journeyman Red Seal Refrigeration Mechanic, Mechanical Engineering Degree, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Experience in refrigeration / HVAC system troubleshooting.
• Experience with electronic control systems used in refrigeration or HVAC systems.
• Experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is desirable.

Skills Required

• Strong work ethic and proven ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency with basic HVAC/R related hand tools and test equipment.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Ability to define project parameters and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strength, stamina and the use of industry approved lifting techniques required to handle heavy tools and parts weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Physical demands including pulling, pushing, kneeling, reaching above head, laying, and sitting.
